The History of International Students Inc. (ISI)
ISI was begun in 1953 by Bob Finley, a former missionary to China, with the encouragement of Dawson Trotman of the Navigators and Billy Graham. It began as an outreach to international students arriving on ships in San Francisco harbor. In that year there were 33,000 students from other countries enrolled in U.S. colleges. Today there are over 750,000 international students studying in the United States. ISI has staff on many of the major universities and colleges where those students live. The headquarters of ISI is located in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
