Statement of Faith - International Students, Inc. at Virginia Tech Here is where we stand
We believe in the divine inspiration and authority of the Bible. The Holy Spirit of God guided the many writers of the Bible down through the ages so that the book we now have is thoroughly accurate and applicable to all life and behavior. We believe the Old and New Testaments are equally vital to the believer. Both should be read, studied and believed.
We believe that God is revealed in three persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and was fully human during his earthly life and ministry.
We believe that God created the world exactly as Genesis 1 makes clear, in six twenty-four hour days. We also believe that the other miracles of the Old Testament, the Flood, the Confusion of Languages, the Opening of the Red Sea, etc. all took place exactly as the Bible makes clear. The miracles of Jesus and the apostles in the New Testament also are true and factual.
We believe that God is the creator of the marriage relationship. That relationship is between a man and a woman. Sexual relationships outside of marriage are forbidden in Scripture as are sexual relationships that are not between men and women.
We believe that all people have sinned against God and have fallen short of his standards for their thinking and behavior.
We believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross and three days later rose from the dead.
We believe that those who repent of their sins and believe in Jesus Christ receive forgiveness of their sins and eternal life.
We believe that people are justified by faith alone. Good deeds are valuable and pleasing to God, but they do not bring about salvation from sin.
We believe that when people hear and understand the message of the gospel of Jesus Christ, they have a choice either to believe or continue in unbelief. To receive Christ is to gain eternal life. To reject him is to face judgment and eternity in hell.
We believe in the second coming of Jesus Christ to judge the world.
We believe it to be the supreme responsibility of the disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ to make His Gospel known to all people.
