Theme: “Discovering the Real Jesus Christ” The book of Hebrews.
Meeting on Sunday Evenings at 6 PM, starting August 27.
Location: Rotating between the Dellinger's and Jackson's homes.
Dinner served by the host family. Occasional Pot Luck Meals.
This study will be investigating the true identity of Jesus Christ. The author of the New Testament book of Hebrews was writing to a group of Jewish believers who were in danger of departing the Christian faith and going back to Judaism. To prove how wrong this course of action would be, the writer builds a case throughout the book for the greatness of Jesus Christ. His shows Christ's superiority to Jewish leaders of the past and even to angels who often appeared to heroes of the Old Testament. The sacrifice that Christ made by dying on the cross was also superior to the old Hebrew sacrificial system in which animals were killed burnt up on the alter of the temple. Even the old testament priests were superseded by Jesus Christ who became our one an only Great High Priest.
Doing this wonderful Bible study in "Discovering the Real Jesus Christ" will give you a greater appreciation for the Son of God than you have ever had before.
Bible Discussion – Group Two - Starting September 3
Michael and Liz Schulte – Leaders
Study: The Gospel of Mark
Meeting on Sunday Evenings at 6 PM
Location: The study will rotate between the homes of the Schulte's and others. .
Dinner will be provided. Some meals will be Pot-Luck.
The study will look at the life of Jesus using the book of Mark. Writing primarily for a Roman audience, Mark brings attention to the obedience of Jesus to the mission he received from God. As we progress through the study we will also consult sections of Scripture from the prophet Isaiah who, hundreds of years before Jesus, foretold of a suffering servant of God that was obedient to death."
